Having moved to Greenwich from Texas in 1967, Russ attended the Greenwich public schools. He is considered by his clients and peers as the go-to person for all things Greenwich, and has a long history of supporting his community through volunteer efforts and club memberships. In his free time he enjoys a good game of golf, and, in fact, is a 10-time Men's Golf Club Champion at Innis Arden Golf Club in Greenwich.

He graduated from Southern Methodist University in 1979 with a Bachelor degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance and Real Estate. Russ married his wife Robin in 1985. He has two delightful children one attending Southern Methodist University and the other attending Greenwich High School.
